When it comes to planning your elopement, you may not realize it, but you have tons of flexibility in your budget. If you choose to keep your elopement more budget friendly, that’s great! If you want to go all out and splurge, that’s okay too!
The most important thing about your elopement in Washington State is to have a wedding day that feels authentic and beautiful for you and your partner. Here are some things you’ll need to consider when breaking down the cost of your elopement:
When planning your Washington State elopement, you’ll first want to consider your photography. I personally feel this is a huge part of your wedding day because a photographer will capture all of your memories. More than likely you’ll want those as keepsakes.
When eloping most photographers have different photo coverage options. Depending on what photographer you choose to go with, they may have a minimum number of hours they require to shoot your elopement. From there, they may also have a maximum.
If you are wanting your entire wedding day photographed, that will definitely increase the investment. However, that may be worth it if photos are a priority to you. You also have the option to have less photo coverage time, while still getting stunning images.
On average you might find wedding elopement photography to cost you between $2500 and $5000 for a 6 hour elopement. If you wanted to add videography to your service a videographer would charge similarly to a photographer. Sometimes you might find a photography and videographer team who can offer both services together which is both convenient and can be more cost friendly if you want photo and video!
For your Washington State elopement, are your florals a key part of your wedding day? If so, florals may be something you want to splurge on. Something like a vignette with lots of florals could be more expensive.
Flowers can also range in price depending on the types of flowers you’d like at your wedding. On average in Washington State a wedding bouquet can cost $150-300 but can also increase from those numbers depending on what type of flowers you choose and if they are locally in season or not.
For example, if you want to incorporate peonies into your wedding, they are only in season in Washington state from the beginning of May to Mid-June. Getting married during this time frame means peonies might be easier to locate and come at a lower cost than if you were to get married in the Fall or Winter.
If you’d like to keep your budget on the lower side for florals, you could opt to just do a beautiful bouquet and boutonniere. Are florals are important to you? Then by all means go all out. However, florals are definitely a place where you can opt to be more conservative in your budget.
When eloping, the venue is key! If you choose to have a courthouse elopement costs will be very low. You also have the option of eloping in a National Park. That doesn’t mean it’ll be completely free of charge though.
When eloping at a National Park, you’ll need to get a permit in advance. These permits typically cost anywhere between $50-$500. You could also choose to rent a venue like a photo studio, a plant nursery, or a small church!
Your venue is important. You should choose a place of significance to you and your partner. So splurging on a venue could be top of the list for you!
There’s lots of wiggle room when it comes to catering and/or desserts for you elopement. Some couples may choose to have a small picnic catered for them and their partner. Others, invite a small number of guests and cater their elopement. Some even rent an AirBnb and hire a personal chef to cook them a customized meal for them and their partner, or their families. It all depends on you.
I’ve been to elopements where couples chose to forego catering and desserts as a whole. This left them with more room in the budget for other things.
Desserts can add up quickly for your elopement. Even if you order a simple cake for the two of you (okay, and if you do choose to order a cake, I’d love a slice). You could even choose something a little more unique like custom macarons, a little tart or a box of donuts. However, if this is something you’ve pictured for your wedding day, splurge on the dessert!
This is an area I see lots of couples splurging, and why not! It’s your wedding day, you want to look nice! So, splurging on a more expensive dress may be an area where your budget is larger.
In Washington State you can find many wedding dress and outfit shops that fit a variety of budgets. You could visit a bridal or tux shop to find a trendy outfit check out local thrift stores and vintage shops and find something truly unique!
Other couples opt to go for more simple attire like summer dresses or jumpsuits that ends up saving them lots of money. There is no right or wrong answer here, only what feels right to you.
At the end of the day, it’s up to you and your partner to decide what you value most for your wedding day. This alone will really help you to decide your elopement budget. I hope this helped you to have an idea of the cost to elope in Washington State.
